More Research 8/27
"Nonetheless the ideals of futurism remain as significant components of modern Western culture; the emphasis on youth, speed, power and technology finding expression in much of modern commercial cinema and culture. Ridley Scott consciously evoked the designs of Sant'Elia in Blade Runner. Echoes of Marinetti's thought, especially his "dreamt-of metallization of the human body", are still strongly prevalent in Japanese culture..."

Project One....

So, the blog is now up for my intro to digital arts class.
Project One
the research
Im not totally clear what exactly it is we are doing for the first project, but apparently Im still supposed to research for it. Here's what I know:
- 5 images will be created using photoshop
- 3 of these images will be chosen through a class critique for further developement
- All 5 images should contain a common theme
- All images must be photographed by me, or scanned from books, objects, or other physically available media/material.
the initials
1. Vanity: A Campus Crusade. Certain times of the day on campus get hectic with large amounts of people crowding the sidewalks. The school supposedly educates roughly 20,000 students currently. How many man hours (or woman hours) are spent on one morning/day alone preparing for class? How can I represent this visually?
2. Representing motion of a single event from different views, in alternative ways. Needs expanding.
3. "Pushing Windows" right now the idea is simply of visually showing windows and pictures (generally framed) as interactive objects in an image. This in turn would have to depict some form of interaction, probably by pushing, from a person. The result would be that the window/frame would act as a portal to some bizarre/stylized world, or interpretation of it. Fleshing out and development would be needed to narrow how exactly I would go about doing this.
4. Eye movement. 2D stylized but representational imagery of eyes manipulating objects within a white or empty/uncluttered space. Almost as in the "loading program" from "The Matrix."
